Maple Baked Apples

Ingredients:
6 apples
6 T brown sugar
6 T butter
Maple Sauce:
˝ C maple syrup
1 T brown sugar
˝ C apple cider
2 T lemon juice
˝ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cornstarch
˝ tsp cloves
˝ tsp nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375°. Core apples without piercing bottom. Peel upper half and place in a baking dish. Drop a spoonful of brown sugar in each apple. In saucepan, dissolve starch in cool cider. Add remaining ingredients and heat until thickened. Pour sauce evenly in each apple, then top off with butter. Pour ˝ C water in pan and bake 1 hour. Serve hot with ice cream.
